FAQ
Everything below is a plain-English summary. The binding terms are in our Shipping policy and Refund policy. Where the two differ, the policies win.
Delivery
Where do you ship from?
We hold stock in two places: the UK and China. UK orders are sent from within the UK. Orders to everywhere else are sent tracked, and any import duties or taxes are charged by your country on arrival.
Do I have to pay customs or import duties?
UK orders: nothing to pay, because they never cross a border. For everywhere else, your country will charge import duties and taxes when the parcel arrives. These are set by your local authorities, aren't included in what you pay us, and are payable by you. We can't estimate them in advance, so it's worth checking your own country's thresholds before you order.
How long before my order is sent?
3–5 working days, because we pick and pack in small batches. During collection launches it can take up to 7 working days, and we'll email you if yours will. Pre-order pieces, marked on their product page, are out of stock in the UK and take 7–15 working days. Made-to-order pieces, marked on their product page, are made after you order and take 10–15 working days.
My tracking hasn't updated
Give it a couple of working days first; carriers often scan a parcel only at a few points along the way. If nothing has moved for 10 working days, email hello@rudefish.shop with your order number and we'll open an enquiry with the carrier.
Can I change my delivery address?
Before it's dispatched, yes: email us as soon as you can. Once it's on its way we can't redirect it.
My order arrived in two parcels
That's normal when pieces come from different warehouses. Your return window starts from the day the last parcel reaches you.
Returns
How do I return something? (UK orders)
Sign in to your account on the site with the email address you used to order, pick the pieces you're sending back and tell us why. We'll email you the return address once we've approved it. You have 14 days from delivery to start the return, then another 14 days to post it.
Prefer email? hello@rudefish.shop works too; just include your order number.
Can I return an order shipped outside the UK?
Generally no. We're not able to accept returns on international orders, except where consumer law in your country gives you a right to cancel. If it does, email hello@rudefish.shop before sending anything; return postage and any customs charges on the way back would be yours to cover.
I don't have a printer
You don't need one. Buy your postage through Royal Mail Click & Drop and choose Labels to Go: you'll get a QR code, and any Post Office or Royal Mail Customer Service Point will print the label for you, free.
Who pays for the return?
You do, and we'd ask you to use a tracked service; until a parcel reaches us it's still your responsibility. If the piece is faulty or we sent the wrong thing, we cover postage both ways.
Is there anything I can't return?
Anything shipped outside the UK: see above.
For hygiene reasons, once the packaging is opened we can't take back hosiery, tights, socks or bedding.
We also can't take back made-to-order pieces (marked on their product page; we don't hold stock of these, each is made after you order and sold as final sale). None of that affects your legal rights.
When will my refund show?
We refund within 5 working days of your return reaching us (or within 14 days of you sending us proof of postage, whichever comes first), and your bank usually takes another 3–5 to show it.
The pieces
Why isn't my piece identical to the photograph?
Every print is drawn by hand and produced in small runs. Slight colour variation between runs, small irregularities in hand-finished seams and light pilling on textiles are characteristics of how these pieces are made; they're not faults. Anything genuinely wrong, email us within 30 days of delivery with photos and we'll put it right.
How should I care for them?
Follow the care label. Wash darker pieces separately the first time.
Will sold-out pieces come back?
Collections are made in limited runs and we don't usually restock. Sign up to the newsletter if you'd like to hear when a new one drops.
